The End of Another Decade

Last Friday I began the last year of another decade. I had my 29th birthday and I can't believe that in less than a year I will no longer be "20 something". I had an enjoyable day but the highlight was Andrew's reaction to the cake part of the celebration.
At lunch, Mark brought my cake home but we did not eat it until after supper. Andrew was very anxious to get to the cake so I hid it in the microwave hoping that "out of sight, out of mind". The minute Mark walked through the door after work Andrew walked over and pointed at the microwave and said, "Cake now!" He knew where it was all day and was just waiting for daddy to get home. Then when we finally got to eat it he was very interested in the candles. In fact as soon as Mark got the first one lit, Andrew blew it out. He knew what to do.
We finally got them all lit and Andrew and Mark sang to me then I told Andrew he could help me blow out the candles. Then of course he had to lick the candles. That he learned from his cousins.
We all enjoyed some cake (even Josiah) but I think Andrew enjoyed his the most.

Andrew also greatly enjoys getting his picture taken. So after the cake was eaten and the mess cleaned up we played around with the camera a little. Josiah looks a little less than thrilled.

Being 30 isn't so bad,(I should know as I've been it for a few years) but do enjoy your last year in the 20's.
I loved the story about Andrew and the cake!

My kids fought over who would get to lick Jer's candles. After he licked them Hannah attacked them and they were SO clean that I didn't even wash them. I figured the germs would be dead the next time I used them anyhow!!!

Congrats baby sister!!
