Thanks!

I am amazed at how many of you have been praying for us regarding our situation with our neighbors. I don't know why I am amazed but I am so thankful for each of you. Several of you have asked if anything has come of it so I want to give you an update.

Over the weekend as I was on my way to the grocery store I saw them out in their yard so I finally figured out what house was theirs. =) Since this whole situation started Mark and I thought it would be a good idea to take something to them to thank them for their help. Last week a friend of mine sent me a starter for Amish Friendship Bread (thanks Alysia) and I decided I would use that as a way to meet more of our neighbors. If you aren't familiar with the Amish Friendship Bread what you do is you get this Ziploc bag of the bread starter and you basically baby it for 10 days. Then on the tenth day you add some stuff to it and measure out starters to give to 3 of your friends. Also on the tenth day you bake some bread from what is left over. I decided to bake some for my family but also to make a couple of mini loafs to give to this couple that had helped us with moving.

So Tuesday evening Mark and I (and our kids) walked down to their house and knocked on the door. At first they didn't answer and we were about to leave but Mark saw that the wife had come to the door. She opened it and I tried to hand her the bread first and told her we just wanted to thank them for their help with our move. She told me I didn't need to do that and backed up and started to close the door. But I persisted a little more and told her that I really wanted to give this to her and she again said no and started to close the door. I then asked her if she was familiar with the Amish Friendship Bread and told her I wanted to give her a starter for that also. She then opened the door a little wider and told me her sister and her used to do that all the time. I handed the starter to her and also gave her the bread I had made for them. With the starter you are supposed to give everyone a copy of the recipe and I had written a note to them tell them we were sorry for any misunderstanding we'd had and told them we hoped we'd be able to be friends. She hugged me and then we left.

We are still praying that God will work out the details according to His plan. I'll be honest and say it was very hard to walk to their home and ring their doorbell to face someone who had offended me but I knew that's what God wanted us to do. I knew we needed to have a good testimony and Mark and I have been praying for a long time that God would place us somewhere that we would be able to be a good witness for Him. If we had just avoided them and never faced them we would have allowed Satan to have the victory. But God is faithful and He gave us the strength to do what He wanted us to do. Who knows....maybe because of this awkward situation God will bring this family to a saving knowledge of Him. There is another couple on our street that has been witnessing to them also so maybe God will use this to draw them to Himself. God has a purpose and a plan and we will continue to pray that God will use us as a shining light for Him.

Thank you all so much for praying for us regarding this situation. It's amazing how powerful prayer is.
