When Andrew was just a few months old I took him to an apple orchard with a group of ladies from our church. I went with them every fall for the next several years. When we moved to Kansas we found an apple orchard near our house and went as a family. It has always proven to be a fun activity to do with the kids. Well now we live in the Mid-South and they don't have apple orchards around here. Last year a friend invited me to come strawberry picking with her and it was fun but we didn't get much. Later in the summer I found out about a blueberry plantation not too far from our house but never made it out. This week the blueberry plantation opened up and then a cold front came through so we decided there was no better time to go than when its a wonderful 72 degrees, low humidity, and cloud cover. So this morning we headed out to the blueberry plantation.
Check out that tongue...his lips and teeth were all just as blue! On the way out one of the ladies that works there even noticed and I told her he won the award! =)
Andrew and Abigail ate their fair share too but I guess not nearly as much as Josiah
We filled up 2 buckets to the top...well, over the top
And headed back to the front to pay
We had a wonderful time and everyone enjoyed the fun. For those of you concerned...we were told to make sure we ate some while we picked and as we were leaving one of the owners asked me if they were good. When I answered yes he replied good...Thank you!
So now bring on the blueberry crisps, blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, smoothies, and whatever else we can come up with to put blueberries in. =)
